An Idea?? Southend - South End

We are too late for this year but if we can get some ideas together I think it would be amazing... Check them out. www.seaba.com/

I SENT THIS TO SEABA IN SOUTH END IN VERMONT:

SOUTH END SOUTHEND PROPOSAL

My name is Amy Mckenny, I am an artist who lives in a town called Southend in the UK and I am currently sending proposals to the local council for arts developments here. I wondered whether there would be any way of perhaps linking an event here in Southend with your South End. As the area is very close to London local contempoary art has not been given the proper attention it deserves, so many local contemporay artists 'migrate' down the Thames to London. It would be great to lift the profile of Southend from small town provincial arts to edgy contemporary art hub. One that exists along side London but not dependant on it.

I understand what you have here is an established arts event and I am not expecting Southend to be included in this, but I wondered if there was anything we could do along side that, or a seperate 'South end - Southend' event, maybe a link up - perhaps even a live linked exhibtion. I am open to tossing round suggestions and will be willing and able to pull our local contemporary artists out of hiding.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this,
Kind regards,
Amy Mckenny from Southend.

THEIR REPLY:

Amy - How cool! I'll include this in our list of "possible" events/activities. If you have specific ideas, please pass them on. We'll keep in touch.
